What’s the Problem?

According to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), this recall affects 2018-2021 Lance trailers model numbers 1995, 2185, 2285, 1475, 1575, 1685, 1985, 2295, 2375, 2445, and 2465.

These trailers are equipped with a Dometic propane gas stove, model R1731 or R2131 manufactured Nov. 2018 or later, or model S31 manufactured Nov. 2018 or later.

“In certain stove serial number ranges, a gas leak may occur in the cooking stove,” NHTSA said. “A gas leak can increase the risk of a fire.”

Lance Camper is notifying the owners and Dometic will repair the stoves, free of charge.

This recall began in October 2020.

Natural Gas Poisoning Symptoms

When you’re looking for signs of gas in your travel trailer, it is important to keep in mind that it might not have any physical symptoms or smells. However, if a smell is present, it’ll be rotten eggs and sulfur. Near the gas line, you might see a white or dust cloud, and a whistling or hissing sound. Natural gas leaks can also cause an increase in your gas bill.

Signs and symptoms of natural gas poisoning include:

  1. Ringing in your ears
  2. A reduced appetite
  3. Pain in the chest
  4. Nosebleeds
  5. Blistering or pale skin
  6. Flu-like symptoms
  7. Dizziness
  8. Breathing difficulties
  9. Light-headedness
  10. Drowsiness
