Update: Ex-Coach at LAUSD Gets 105 Years For Lewd Acts on Girls
August 30, 2017 – Ronnie Lee Roman was sentenced to 105 years to life on Tuesday for molesting 7 girls during his work as a coach for after-school programs at 2 Los Angeles Unified elementary schools, according to KTLA 5 [1].
The 44-year-old was found guilty on 7 counts of lewd act on a child, the DA’s office said. The 7 girls — 6 of whom Roman molested on school grounds — ranged in age from 8 to 11-years-old, prosecutors said.
What’s the Problem?
Ronnie Lee Roman, a 42-year-old Youth Services coach for an after-school program called Beyond the Bell, is accused of “inappropriately touching seven girls” at Cahuenga Elementary School in Koreatown between January 2012 and September 2014, according to the Los Angeles Times [2].
Prosecutors said Roman also allegedly molested 2 girls at Vine Elementary School in Hollywood between August 2001 and July 2002. All of the students were between the ages of 7 and 11, according to the D.A.
LAPD’s Sexually Exploited Child Unit began investigating Roman in September 2014, after a female student reported that he had touched her inappropriately a number of times, police said.
Roman’s bail has been set at $1.7 million, and he has been charged with 9 felony counts of lewd acts on a child, according to the Times. If convicted, Roman could face up to 135 years to life in state prison.
