What’s the Problem?
This recall affects Kia Forte vehicles from model year 2019, according to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
The left front axle driveshaft on affected Kias may not have been heat-treated, which can cause it to break, NHTSA said. A broken driveshaft can result in a sudden loss of drive power, increasing the risk of a crash.
Kia is notifying owners and dealers will inspect the left front axle driveshaft for a
heat treatment verification code, and replace it if the code is missing, free of charge.
This recall began on September 2, 2020.
