These products were produced on May 24 and 25, 2012, and contain the establishment number “EST. 12429” inside the USDA mark of inspection, as well as batch numbers 546 and 552.

Listeria Food Poisoning (Listeriosis)

Listeriosis is a potentially fatal form of food poisoning caused by consuming food products contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes bacteria. Unlike the majority of other foodborne pathogens, listeria can grow in foods stored in the refrigerator. Listeria monocytogenes can be spread through contact with infected hands or countertops in the process of food preparation. Those at the greatest risk for developing listeriosis include children, the elderly, and those with otherwise compromised immune systems.

Signs and symptoms of listeriosis in adults may include (but are not limited to):

  • nausea
  • vomiting
  • cramps
  • diarrhea
  • severe headache
  • constipation
  • fever

In babies, symptoms may include:

  1. loss of appetite
  2. lethargy
  3. jaundice
  4. vomiting
  5. rash
  6. difficulty breathing
