IKEA Recalls Children’s Swing Due To Fall Hazard: CPSC Alert

According to a press release issued by the Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC) on September 16, 2014, about 2,000 IKEA GUNGGUNG Swings are being recalled in the U.S. after four reports surfaced (1 in Germany, 2 in Austria & 1 in Canada) of suspension fittings breaking during use. In one incident, a child fell from the swing and fractured their leg. To date, no injuries have been reported in the U.S.

The GUNGGUNG swing is made of green polyester fabric which hangs from a plastic suspension fitting, and is intended for indoor and outdoor use by children ages 3-7. A label attached to the suspension strap displays age recommendation, IKEA logo, article number 302.439.74, supplier number 17915, and Made in Vietnam.

GUNGGUNG was sold at IKEA stores nationwide and online from June 2014 to August 2014 for $20. Consumers in possession of the baby swing should stop using it immediately and return it to any IKEA store for a full refund.

How Can Filing a Lawsuit Help Me?

By filing a lawsuit against the maker of the GUNGGUNG baby swing, you may be entitled to collect compensation for all current and future medical expenses related to the treatment of your child’s injury, as well as for damages for pain and suffering. Additionally, filing a lawsuit can help hold IKEA accountable for releasing an allegedly defective product into the marketplace, and to discourage other companies from engaging in similar conduct.
