Update: Honda Pioneer ROVs Recalled Over Crash, Injury Risk

Honda is recalling 2021 Pioneer 700, Pioneer 1000, and Talon 1000 recreational off-highway vehicles (ROVs) over concerns that the vehicles can lose steering function, posing crash and injury hazards. The VIN number range of affected vehicles for the Pioneer 700 is 1HFVE02**M4700031-M4700694, for the Pioneer 1000 is 1HFVE04**M4500061-M4502219, and for the Talon 1000 is 1HFVE05**M4200001- M4201598.

The recalled ROVs were sold at authorized Honda Powersports dealers nationwide from September 2020 through August 2021 for between $10,000 and $27,000.

If you purchased a Honda ROV that is affected by this recall, you should stop using it immediately and contact an authorized Honda Powersports dealer to schedule an appointment for a free inspection and repair to install a yoke joint and hardware for the steering shaft assembly.

This recall does not involve issues like overloaded electrical circuits or a high voltage battery pack failure, but rather concerns related to steering.

This recall began on November 18, 2021.

FAQs

Can I seek compensation for diminished value in a Honda Pioneer recall lawsuit?

Yes, you can seek compensation for diminished value in a Honda Pioneer recall lawsuit if the defect or recall has caused a significant decrease in the vehicle’s market value. This type of compensation accounts for the loss in value due to the defect, even after repairs have been made, such as issues with a high voltage battery.

What role do expert witnesses play in a Honda Pioneer recall lawsuit?

Expert witnesses play a crucial role in a Honda Pioneer recall lawsuit by providing testimony on the nature of the defect, how it could have been prevented, and its impact on safety and vehicle performance. Their expertise helps establish the connection between the defect and any damages or injuries sustained, including cases involving electrical short circuits or anti lock brake system failures.

What are the potential outcomes of a Honda Pioneer recall lawsuit?

Potential outcomes of a Honda Pioneer recall lawsuit include a settlement where Honda agrees to compensate the plaintiffs, a court verdict awarding damages to the plaintiffs, or, in some cases, the dismissal of the lawsuit if the court finds insufficient evidence. Settlements may also include commitments from Honda to address the defect and prevent future issues, such as improving ground connection overheating risks.

What should I do if I’ve already sold my recalled Honda Pioneer?

If you’ve already sold your recalled Honda Pioneer, you may still be eligible to join a class action lawsuit or pursue individual legal action if you suffered financial losses due to the defect. It’s important to keep records of the sale, any repairs made, and any communications with Honda or the dealership regarding the recall.
