What's the Problem?
According to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), this recall affects:
- 2019 Honda Clarity Fuel Cell
- 2019 Honda Clarity Electric
- 2019 Honda Clarity Plug-in
Related: Product Liability Lawsuits
These vehicles were fitted with rear seat belt assemblies with a dual-mode locking mechanism which may not lock as intended, NHTSA said. In the event of a crash, the seat belt may not properly restrain the occupant, increasing the risk of injury.
Honda is notifying owners and dealers will inspect the rear seat belt assembly production dates and replace the assemblies free of charge.
This recall began in July 2020.
