What’s the problem?
Pepperidge Farm has since released a detailed chart (PDF) that specifies sell-by dates and package codes of all potentially affected products. A total of 18 variations in product sizes with varying sell-by dates are listed, the company said.
Signs and symptoms of salmonella food poisoning (salmonellosis) typically start to appear within 48 hours of ingesting the bacterium, and include varying degrees of:
- Abdominal cramps
Most cases of salmonellosis last between 4 and 7 days, and typically resolve without treatment other than drinking a lot of fluids. However, in the case of severe diarrhea, hospitalization may be required, according to the FDA.
To date, no salmonella infections or other adverse events have been linked to the recall, FDA said. If you purchased any Goldfish Cracker products affected by the recall, you should discard them immediately or return them to the point of purchase for a refund.
