What's the Problem?
According to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), this recall affects:
- 2021 GMC Yukon XL
- 2019-2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
- 2019-2021 GMC Sierra 1500
- 2021 Chevrolet Suburban
- 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe
- 2020-2021 Chevrolet Silverado 2500
- 2020-2021 Chevrolet Silverado 3500
- 2020-2021 GMC Sierra 2500
- 2020-2021 GMC Sierra 3500
The seat belt brackets on the above vehicles may not have been secured to the seat frame in the front-row center seating position, NHTSA said. If a seat belt bracket is not secured, the device may fail to restrain an occupant in the front-row center seat position, increasing the risk of severe injuries during a crash. GM is notifying owners and dealers will inspect the seat-belt bracket attachments and reassemble them as necessary, free of charge.
This recall began on February 1, 2021.
