Salmonella Risk Prompts Garlic Powder Recall

The recall [1] was issued on March 16, 2015 after raw organic garlic powder received by Frontier Co-op tested positive for the presence of Salmonella bacteria. Products affected by this recall were sold in all 50 U.S. states and in some parts of Canada to distributors, retailers and consumers. How To Identify Products

On foil bulk packages, the 4-digit lot code can be found on the front label directly above the UPC code. On bottled products, the lot code is located on the bottom of the bottle. On seasoning mixes, the code is on the right side of the packet. If you are in possession of any products affected by this recall, do not consume them and either throw them away or return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Natural Grocers Garlic Powder Recall

Two days after the Frontier Co-op recall was issued, another nationwide recall [3] was announced for organic garlic powder distributed by Vitamin Cottage Natural Food Markets Inc., a Lakewood, CO-based natural grocery chain. The products, which were sold under the company’s Natural Grocers brand name, were also found to be contaminated with Salmonella. Click here to learn more.
