“Listeria monocytogenes is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems,” FDA said. “Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea, a Listeria monocytogenes infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.”
The recalled sandwiches are packaged in clear plastic wedges & paper bags and distributed from March 3-5, 2021, to vendors at the Charlotte Douglas Airport and via vending machines and micro-markets in business locations in Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and West Virginia.
