August 12, 2011 – The U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) announced today that the following products are being recalled by Fresh Food Concepts, Inc. because they may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes:

  • Delicioso 5 Layer Dip, 15 oz; UPC code 29358-12229; use by date code 09/16/11 and before
  • Delicioso 5 Layer Dip, 30 oz; UPC code 29358-12230; use by date code 09/16/11 and before
  • Rojo’s Ultimate 7 Layer Dip, 36 oz; UPC code 35196-44162; use by date code 09/16/11 and before
  • Fresh Food Concepts 5 Layer Dip, 16 oz; UPC code 35196-44216; use by date code 09/16/11 and before
  • Rojo’s Supreme 6 Layer Dip, 44 oz; UPC code 47502-44180; use by date code 09/16/11 and before
  • Rojo’s 6 Layer Dip, 44 oz; UPC code 47502-44185; use by date code 09/16/11 and before
  • Rojo’s 6 Layer Dip, 44 oz; UPC code 47502-44189; use by date code 09/16/11 and before
  • Fresh Food Concepts 5 Layer Dip, 454 g; UPC code 35196-44214; use by date code 09/16/11 and before
  • Signature Café 6 Layer Dip, 15 oz; UPC code 21130-06191; use by date code 09/16/11 and before
  • Signature Café 6 Layer Dip, 30 oz; UPC code 21130-06192; use by date code 09/16/11 and before
  • Signature Café 6 Layer Dip, 425 g; UPC code 58200-06034; use by date code 09/16/11 and before
  • Signature Café 6 Layer Dip, 850 g; UPC code 58200-06032; use by date code 09/16/11 and before

These products were distributed nationwide and Canada through retail markets and club stores. The recall was initiated as the result of routine sampling conducted by the FDA which revealed that the avocado pulp used in these products was contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. Since the issue was discovered, Fresh Food Concepts, Inc. has stopped using avocado from the supplier.
