What’s the Problem?
According to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), this recall affects the following motorhomes:
- 2021 Fleetwood Discovery
- 2021 Fleetwood Discovery LXE
- 2021 Fleetwood Pace Arrow
- 2021 Fleetwood Pace Arrow LXE
- 2021 Fleetwood Bounder
- 2021 Fleetwood Southwind
- 2021 Fleetwood Holiday Rambler Armada
- 2021 Fleetwood Endeavor
- 2021 Fleetwood Nautica
- 2021 Fleetwood Navigator
- 2021 Fleetwood Vacationer
The primary gear of the bed lift motor on the above motorhomes may fail, allowing the bed frame to drop, NHTSA said. A bed frame that drops can increase the risk of an injury or death.
REV Recreation Group is notifying owners and dealers will inspect, and if necessary, replace the bed lift motor, free of charge.
This recall began on January 12, 2021.
Snyder vs. Fleetwood RV
In August 2011, Lora F. Snyder filed a lawsuit against Fleetwood in the Jefferson County Court of Common Pleas alleging that, despite paying $780,964.00 for a 2011 American Coach Motor Home, the RV was so substantially impaired that it was worthless and unsafe for use. Fleetwood eventually settled the case with Snyder, with the company providing her with a 2012 American Coach Motor Home.
However, Ms. Snyder was not happy with the replacement RV, either. As a result, she filed a second lawsuit in the Jefferson County Court of Common Pleas, alleging that, despite numerous attempts to repair the replacement motor home, it remains substantially impaired and unfit for use.
In Count I of the complaint, Snyder sets forth a claim for breach of contract. In Count II, she alleges a violation of the “Ohio Motor Vehicles with Warranty Conformities [sic] Act,” O.R.C. §1345.72. Id. at 8. In Count III, Snyder claims that she is entitled to “revocation in whole.”
