October 11, 2013 – Federal safety investigators have announced that they will be inspecting Dallas, TX-based USPlabs, the company that manufactures OxyElite Pro. Over the past week, the company has come under intense scrutiny after OxyElite Pro was linked to nearly 30 cases of liver failure and acute hepatitis in Hawaii. USPlabs has since discontinued production and distribution of OxyElite Pro products pending the results of the investigation.
OxyElite Pro Lawsuit Update 4/16/14: Earlier this month, a panel of federal judges denied a motion by the makers of OxyElite Pro and Jack3d to transfer and consolidate a number of products liability lawsuits to federal court in Philadelphia. The litigation contends that the supplements contained altered ingredients that were unsafe and unapproved by the FDA, leading to a nationwide hepatitis outbreak. Click here to learn more.

OxyElite Pro Linked to Cases of Hepatitis, Liver Failure
According to an FDA press release, OxyElite Pro has been linked to 29 cases of hepatitis that have led to two liver transplants and one death in Hawaii. So far, 11 Hawaiians have been hospitalized and more cases around the country are being investigated.
Unlike normal drugs, products that are classified as ‘dietary supplements’ are not required to be approved by the FDA to be sold to the public. A press release issued by USPlabs states “The company stands by the safety of all of its products” and “nothing like this has ever been associated with OxyELITE Pro in all of the years our products have been in the market.”
As a precautionary measure, USPlabs has halted the domestic distribution of OxyElite Pro until further notice. The FDA has advised consumers in possession of OxyElite Pro to discontinue use immediately, and to contact a physician immediately if negative symptoms appear.
“The original version with DMAA has not been manufactured or distributed since early 2013,” the press release concludes. “Out of an abundance of caution, the company has ceased domestic distribution of OxyElite Pro with the Purple Top and OxyElite Pro Super Thermo Powder until the investigation has been completed. The company continues to believe these versions are safe and are not the cause of the cluster of liver toxicity that has occurred in Hawaii.”
