Salmonella Symptoms

People with salmonella food poisoning (salmonellosis) may develop symptoms such as fever, diarrhea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In severe cases, infections can be fatal, especially in young children, elderly people, and individuals with compromised immune systems. The bacteria can also cause arterial infections, endocarditis and arthritis on rare occasions.

FDA Recommendation

A massive recall of this scale — 206,749,248 eggs, to be exact — prompts a question: What will happen to all those eggs? The FDA says the point of the recall is not to recollect them all, but to protect the public. Consumers have been urged to discard any affected eggs or return them to the point of purchase for a refund.
