Egg recall salmonella illnesses top 1,800
In August 2010, more than 500 million eggs were recalled from Iowa-based Wright County Egg and Hillandale Farms.
A recent statement from the CDC about the recall said: “From May 1 to October 15, 2010, approximately 1,813 illnesses were reported that are likely to be associated with this outbreak.”
However, it is likely that illnesses that occurred after September 12 might not yet be reported due to the time it takes between a person becoming ill and the illness being reported. This usually takes two to three weeks, but can take as long as six.
