Dehumidifier Fires Prompt Warning in Oregon

A post on Oregon’s Elk River Fire Department Facebook page is warning consumers about an ongoing dehumidifier recall, urging everyone to check units to see if theirs is being recalled for a risk of fire.

October 8, 2018 – The Facebook post was prompted by at least 2 separate dehumidifier fires that recently occurred in homes around Elk River, officials said. One of the two devices is part of a massive recall currently underway by the U.S. Consumer products Safety Commission (CPSC).
