What’s the Problem?
This recall affects all Cycling Sports Group Cannondale Canvas NEO bicycles, according to the U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC).[1]
“Cycling Sports Group has received eight reports of the fender detaching and contacting the bicycle wheel, two of which resulted in injuries involving bruising and abrasions,” CPSC said.
Affected bikes are “e-bicycles” that have an electric assist motor, and were sold in a variety of different colors and sizes. The bikes are marked “Canvas” on the top tube.
The recalled bicycles were sold at authorized Cannondale dealers nationwide from June 2019 through October 2020 for between $3,200 and $4,200.
If you purchased a bike that is affected by this recall, you should stop using it immediately and contact your local authorized Cannondale dealer or Cycling Sports Group to arrange for a free repair.
This recall began on December 16, 2020.

Dangers of Bike Accidents
Bicycles should always have properly working parts on them to ensure minimal risk of injury. Many bikes are ridden in the street and among traffic, so if a rider is thrown from the bike, they could be seriously hurt from the impact, as well as from being struck by another vehicle.
If the front fender of a Cannondale bike malfunctions or falls off without warning, the bike can lunge forward and throw the rider over the handlebars. This can cause severe injuries, including (but not limited to):
- Broken bones
- Neck and spinal cord damage
- Concussion
- Brain damage and traumatic brain injuries
- Dislocations and sprains
- Collarbone injuries
- Facial scarring
- Cuts and abrasions
- Internal organ damage
- Severed limbs
- Paralysis
- Death
If you or a loved one suffered from any of these injuries from a defective fender on a Cannondale bike, you should contact our law firm to learn more about your legal rights.
