What’s the Problem?

According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (2), this recall affects:

“Salmonella can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems,” FDA said. “Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain.”

The recalled greens were sold by the following retailers:

• Illinois: Mariano’s Fresh Markets, Walmart (select stores), Strack Van Till, Sullivan’s Foods, Caputo’s, Jewel-Osco
• Wisconsin: Pick ‘n Save, Metro Market, Copps, Tadych’s, Walmart (select stores)
• Iowa: Walmart (select stores)
• Indiana: Strack Van Till

BrightFarms initiated this recall after being notified of illnesses among 8 consumers, some of whom purchased or consumed the above products during June 2021.

If you purchased any BrightFarms products that are affected by this recall, you should not eat them, and either throw them away or return them to the point of purchase for a refund.

Anyone concerned about a potential salmonella infection from recalled BrightFarms greens should contact their healthcare provider immediately.
