What’s the Problem?
This recall affects Bee Free-branded children’s multi-purpose helmets which can be used for multiple sports, according to the U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC) [1].
“The recalled helmets were incorrectly advertised and marketed for children aged 2 years or older,” CPSC said. “However, the recalled helmets do not comply with minimum safety requirements for children younger than 5 and pose a risk of head injury to those children.”
Affected helmets were sold in yellow with black straps and a black clip. The words “Bee Free” are printed on the back of the helmets and “Model RPBFHYS” is printed inside of the helmet. “S” for small is printed on another label also on the inside of the helmet. Only small-sized helmets are included in this recall.
The recalled helmets were sold online from May 2020 through January 2021 for about $16.
If you purchased a recalled helmet, you should take it away from children ages 2 to 4 and contact SmartPool for a full refund.
This recall began on February 24, 2021.
