What’s the Problem?
The MV Artania is a cruise ship that was built for Princess Cruises by Wärtsilä at the Helsinki Shipyard, Finland, which was launched in February 1984.
On March 27, 2020, the Artania docked at Fremantle Harbour, Australia, and the next day at least 46 passengers and crew on board were reported as displaying symptoms of coronavirus, according to CNN. Of the 46 ill, 41 people were confirmed positive for COVID-19, and were treated at hospitals in Perth, Australia.
CNN reported on April 3 that “16 passengers, plus hundreds of crew members” remained aboard the Artania in Australia. As of April 7, at least 4 passengers have died from coronavirus, and at least 81 confirmed cases have been linked to the ship.
