What’s the Problem?

This recall affects Akoury Boss67 motorcycle helmets, part number BFR CO (sizes S, M, L, XL, and XXL), according to a Recall Notice by the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

The recalled motorcycle helmets may lack proper impact protection, and fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 218, “Motorcycle Helmets,” NHTSA said. A helmet that does not provide adequate protection can increase the risk of injury in the event of a crash.

If you purchased a motorcycle helmet that is affected by this recall, you should stop using it immediately and contact your Akoury dealer for information about how to receive a free replacement.

The use of Department of Transportation (DOT)-compliant helmets by all motorcyclists was 64.9% in 2021, according to the National Occupant Protection Use Survey (NOPUS). Although helmet use has increased by 12.5% since 2002, use has decreased by 8.6% since 2018, NOPUS found.
