Fruta Planta Weight Loss Pill Recall Update 2/4/14: MyNicKnaxs, LLC, has issued a nationwide recall for Fruta Planta and other weight loss pills after they were found to contain undeclared active pharmaceutical ingredients, making them unapproved new drugs for which safety and efficacy have not been established.

What’s the problem?

PRock Marketing, LLC has been informed by the FDA that the weight loss dietary supplement ‘Authentic Formula Fruta Planta’ may contain the undeclared drug ingredient Sibutramine, a controlled substance that was withdrawn from the market in October 2010 for safety reasons.

All lots of the Fruta Planta and Reduced Weight Fruta Planta dietary supplement products are being recalled including:

• Fruta Planta; 30 Capsules/Box
• Reduce Weight Fruta Planta; 30 capsules/Box; 30 capsules/Bottle
• Reduce Weight Fruta Planta; 30 capsules/ Pink Box;
• Reduce Weight Fruta Planta; 30 capsules/Box With GMP Sticker
• Reduce Wieght Fruta Planta; 30 Capsules/Box
• Reduce Wieght; 30 Capsules/Box

These products were sold around the country online and can also be found in some retail locations. Consumers possessing these products are advised to destroy them immediately.

Why is Sibutramine dangerous?

A high number of cardiovascular events has been observed in certain individuals taking the drug versus a control group. Last year, the FDA noted that sibutramine increases the risk of heart attacks and strokes in patients with a history of cardiovascular disease.
