Nationwide Sorelle Prescott Baby Crib Recall

September 15, 2010 – Thousands of cribs were originally recalled under the Sorelle Prescott manufacturer in April 2010, but now that recall has been expanded to include the Simplicity label. The mattress support frames can bend or detach, causing part of the mattress to drop, creating a space into which an infant or toddler can roll and become wedged, entrapped, or fall out of the crib. The cribs were sold from July 2009 through October 2009 for between $180 and $210.

Incidents/Injuries

There has been one reported death of a one-year-old child who suffocated when he became entrapped between the crib mattress and the crib frame.  There have also been 29 other incidents reported where the cribs collapsed due to the metal mattress support frame detaching or bending.
