What is a Class Action?

A class action is a type of lawsuit where one person or a handful or people sue on behalf of a large group of persons (class). A class action can involve hundreds, thousands or hundreds of thousands of people with similar complaints.

Generally a law firm will decide to file a class action as opposed to an individual lawsuit when the disputed issue is the same among a large enough group of people that it makes it impractical to file individual cases in numerous jurisdictions.
