Byetta® Lawyers

Since 2005, Byetta® has been available for public use in the treatment of type-II diabetes. However, while the drug has had some success in helping diabetics better regulate their insulin production, Byetta has also been reported to cause a range of mild to severe health problems, some of which can be life threatening.
Please note, Schmidt & Clark, LLP is no longer accepting Byetta claims. If you feel that you may have a potential case, we urge you to locate another law firm adequately suited to handle your claim.

What’s the problem?
Type-II diabetes is a growing epidemic all over the world, particularly in the United States. As is always the case with the pharmaceutical industry, companies large and small are throwing huge amounts of resources into their research, development, and marketing efforts in order to get these medications to the people who need them in order to properly manage their condition.
Byetta is made by Amylin Pharmaceuticals Inc, and marketed jointly by Amylin and Eli Lilly, & Co. The drug was approved by the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) in 2005 to help type-II diabetics better control blood sugar when other drugs were not adequate. The twice-daily injection is a synthetic form of a lizard hormone that boosts the production of insulin.
More than 700,000 patients worldwide have used Byetta since it was launched. While diabetics are more vulnerable to developing pancreatitis than those without the disease, it is becoming apparent that this drug increases that risk. Reports have found an association between Byetta side effects and pancreatitis and kidney problems, including some deaths. Amylin Pharmaceuticals and Eli Lilly & Co. have failed to adequately warn about the risk of these serious and potentially fatal side effects.
