Blue Bell Ice Cream Recall 2015

This is not the first time Blue Bell has recalled its ice cream products over listeria contamination. Last year, the company was forced to halt production and issue a massive recall for all its ice cream due to a listeria outbreak that caused at least 10 serious illnesses, including 3 deaths. The shutdown forced Blue Bell to issue layoffs for the first time in the company’s 100-year history.

September 27, 2016 – Aspen Hills Inc., the company that supplied Blue Bell Creameries the cookie dough blamed for a possible listeria contamination of its chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream, has said that the product tested negative for the bacteria before leaving its Iowa plant. However, Blue Bell maintains that the boxes of cookie dough it tested from Aspen Hills were unopened and that testing conducted by both Blue Bell and an independent lab confirmed the presence of listeria.
