Published by Bella Vi, a popular weight loss supplement made by Pure Edge Nutrition, LLC, is now being recalled after it was found to contain sibutramine, a drug that was withdrawn from the U.S. market in 2010. Side effects of sibutramine may include heart attack, seizure, stroke, and cardiac arrhythmia (abnormal heartbeat). Consumers in possession of Bella Vi should discontinue use immediately and discard any remaining supplies.

Why Was the Bella Vi Recall Issued?
Bella Vi diet pills were sold between March and September 2013. Pure Edge Nutrition claims that Bella Vi is an all-natural dietary supplement; however, according to a press release [1] issued by the Food & Drug Administration, this product contains sibutramine, a hidden drug ingredient that was not listed on the label. The administration warns:
“These products pose a threat to consumers because sibutramine is known to substantially increase blood pressure and/or pulse rate in some patients and can present a significant risk for patients with a history of coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, arrhythmias, or stroke. These products can also interact in life-threatening ways with other medications a consumer may be taking.”
