Taco Bell originally removed green onions from over 5,800 of its stores after they had been linked by federal investigators to the sickening of at least 48 people in six states. Now federal investigators are unsure of exactly what has caused the outbreak of a life-threatening strain of the E. coli bacteria and are now linking over 400 cases to the outbreak to Taco Bell food poisoning.
The CDC reports that this particular strain of E. coli O157:H7 produces a powerful toxin that can cause severe life-threatening illness or death. The victims of this outbreak include an 11-year old boy that has been diagnosed with severe kidney damage.
After conducting the food equivalent of a police lineup, federal health investigators said Wednesday that lettuce was the most likely culprit in an E. coli outbreak at East Coast Taco Bell restaurants, however E. coli can also be found in undercooked meats and improperly pasteurized cheese.
Federal investigators are reporting that the cases of Taco Bell induced food poisoning appear to be concentrated to New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, South Carolina, and Utah.
HOWEVER we feel that the outbreak has affected hundreds of innocent people and is NOT contained to the aforementioned six-states, as we have been contacted by Taco Bell induced food poisoning victims from all across the country.
“When a restaurant serves food to its customers, it is deemed to be fit for human consumption … Taco Bell has clearly breached its duty to provide safe food to its customers.”
If you or a loved one have been the victim of Taco Bell induced food poisoning, you should contact us immediately. You may be entitled to compensation for your food poisoning related injuries and we can help.
An 11-year-old boy's family is suing Taco Bell, claiming negligence by the restaurant chain caused the child to fall ill to E. coli amid an outbreak that has sickened nearly four dozen others (now known to be more). The lawsuit is believed to be the first from the outbreak that has been linked to Taco Bell restaurants.
