What is the Problem?
In 2003, the FDA asked all manufacturers of atypical antipsychotic medications, including AstraZeneca, to add a Warnings statement describing the increased risk of hyperglycemia and diabetes in patients taking these medications, including Seroquel.
A study in Philadelphia was conducted on U.S. military veterans, which demonstrated that Seroquel and other members of a new class of antipsychotic drugs were linked to a higher risk of diabetes, but the risk of diabetes was greatest with Seroquel.
