Byetta, a popular drug used to treat adults with type 2 diabetes has been linked to a number of serious, life-threatening side effects including pancreatitis, hemorrhagic pancreatitis, necrotizing pancreatitis and death.
IMPORTANT PANCREATITIS & BYETTA WARNING: There are no signs or symptoms that distinguish acute hemorrhagic or necrotizing pancreatitis associated with Byetta from the less severe form of pancreatitis.

AMYLIN PHARMACEUTICALS DIABETES DRUG BYETTA® THE FOCUS OF CALIFORNIA LAWSUIT - (8/19/08) A Virginia man yesterday filed what is believed to be the first personal injury lawsuit stemming from injuries associated with the use of Byetta®, an injectable medication for diabetes.
Chronic pancreatitis is a long-standing inflammation of the pancreas that alters its normal structure and functions. It can present as episodes of acute inflammation in a previously injured pancreas, or as chronic damage with persistent pain or malabsorption.
According to the Mayo Clinic, Ongoing damage to your pancreas can lead to a chronic condition that destroys the pancreas and nearby tissues, although it may be years before signs and symptoms appear. A few people with chronic pancreatitis never experience discomfort, but most have intermittent bouts of abdominal pain that can be severe. The pain may also become constant.
